Professor wins academy award

Yes, Professor Demetri Terzopoulos won an academy award. This work was a great contribution to computer vision/graphics and has resulted in its adoption in movie industry. It won an award that is unique:

Scientific and Technical Academy Awards are given to “those accomplishments that contribute to the progress of the industry,” according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Web site. Unlike the Oscars, they are not limited to achievements in the past year.

I am very proud to be a friend of Demetri for about 20 years now. Congratulations, Demetri.
