There have been many articles since Kosmix was announced starting from touting them as another Google to another vertical search engine. Here is another interesting take from Stanford perspective — well the founders of Kosmix (like founders of Yahoo and Google) were two students (Anand Rajaraman and Venky Harinarayan) who went to Stanford together.
