Cuil — a new search engine

It was expected that some people from Google will try to develop better search engines and one of the new efforts is the search engine CUIL.

NYT reports on Antikythera Mechaism that could be considered analog computing in 100 BC. Interesting that:
the device not only predicted solar eclipses but also organized the calendar in the four-year cycles of the Olympiad, forerunner of the modern Olympic Games.
So human quest for computing has truly been very old.

Hectic time in Singapore

Neil calls ZeeTV as Zoom-Zoom TV. This is a good description of the TV station — aptly describel their most programs.
The special effects on most programs are really intense and it seems that their only purpose is to take a 10 minute program and make it 20 minute and add to it another 10 [...]
